Hi all

A few months ago I was in discussion with R whom I believe is now a member of the KN7000 club. He had some great ideas and not a little skill I might add in making things for his keyboard including a foot controller made from a computer mouse I think. It got me thinking there must be some other great ideas out there and it would be great to share them. I've mentioned an idea below to illustrate how items can be re-used to good effect not because of any technical brilliance on my part..

I recently needed to free up some space in my music den (yep, too many keyboards!) and had a spare folding X type keyboard stand. I had already made a simple wooden desk to hold one keyboard and by dis-assembling the keystone attached these to the side of the table (one each end) making a pair of brackets essentially, then with some mdf, wood and glue made a shelf to fit on the T sections of the keystand. After a coat of blackboard paint it now holds my second keyboard securely over the KN7000. Cost was negligible.

Another idea would have been to have used a flat board across the X frame (not dis-assembled this time) as a folding table ideal for putting equipment on or whatever.

I ould be interested in hearing ideas from other members who I'm sure can easily better the above.

Re: Great ideas?

Ingenious ideas, I would love to hear more.

I'm awaiting delivery of a new prototype stand I've designed and I'll post pictures when it arrives. The only room I can use a keyboard in is my lounge at the moment, so I have 'hacked' and Ikea TV stand so that the keyboard can be stored in it, or used on top. I've also added castors so that I can move it around easily. Obviously it is a long stand! Most of the time it acts as a coffee table with the KN7000 housed on the lower shelf. But I can put the KN7000 on top AND my computer when I want to sit on the sofa to play!

The prototype I'm waiting for is a metal stand that will work in conjunction with it. The metal stand is to take my computer, so that it is positioned exactly as you would locate a piece of music. It is a 23 inch touchscreen all-in-one so the size is equivalent to two pages of music. I'll publish photos in due course when the stand arrives.

My other stand is a Koenig and Meyer stand. I run my KN7000 through a Home Theatre system when I'm using that because it adds to the fullness and reduces the strain on the KN7000 speakers (which tend to rattle the cabinet a bit if you turn it up), it also gives me a subwoofer. My son gave me the home theatre system as a gift and that is a great way to enhance your sound at reasonable cost (pick one up on eBay). I've had an engineer friend to make a tray to hold the home theatre system in a convenient place (again, I'll post pictures when I can). Another bonus is that the home theatre system can play CDs (or even DVDs I suppose) for me to play along with.

Re: Great ideas?

That sounds interesting I will look forward to seeing the pics when it arrives.

I've attached a photo of the keyboard support, it is fixed to the sides of the main dest (which is wooden) by means of clamping brackets to hold it firmly in place and to allow for vertical adjustment. It's not really designed for playing at that height but the idea was primarily to free up space in the room.
