Hi there.

I have become the owner of a kn1500, and i know its an old board by todays standards, but using it alongside my yamaha psr-s900 I am finding that some of the sounds on kn1500 sound better, tubular bells for example. Even tryos ones sound rubbish compared to the clean crisp kn1500 sample.

Yeah the piano sound muffled, but considering i got the keyboard for free, it really is a nice piece of kit, and the internal speakers pack a punch.

So was going to offload the kn1500 once I'd retrobrite the keys, but for what I play, it really is ideal and will be staying.

Anyways look forward to reading in the forums and pick up some more tips on this decent board.

Hi and welcome to the site, I hope you will find some useful tips and tricks. Are you looking to use the KN1500 for recording and midi ?. I noted you were thinking of retrobrighting the keys a couple of things to be aware of. Firstly the keys for the 1500 series are no longer obtainable and as I suspect from your comment your keys have gone yellow/yellowish. I have a large number of KN models and my son had a KN1500 which got damaged during a house move, so I had a chance to experiment with the broken key sets. The yellowing does not respond to bleach even when soaked in strong bleach for over a month, a little success was obtained by using Duraglit but the discolouring seems to go right through the plastic that was used. I would advise a good careful clean to remove surface dirt and grime and enjoy the ivory look.
We do have a copy of the KN1500 manual although the quality is not that great, always looking for a better copy.
Best regards John.
