Hi, new to the forum. I have an old but still in good shape, PR270. However, the one thing that has gone is the Drive. I recently replaced the belt but that didn't seem to correct the problem. It maybe that I didn't get the sensor realigned correctly or maybe the drive is just wore out. As with others that have similar systems, I have a bunch of Disc with record sessions and would dearly love to get these back into play. I've seen the USB upgrade but don't know if there are any for this older system. Is there anyone out there that repairs the drives? Other options?

Re: PR270 Floppy Repair or Replacement

sorry for not getting back to you as Christmas got in the way, If I remember correctly the PR270 had the disk drive built in It is probably an old DD type drive which means when you replace it with an Emulator it must be one for 720K operation I personally have yet to fit an Emulator, also you will need to fit an adaptor as you may find the drive in the piano is connected by a 24 or 26 flat ribbon wire, Most of the Emulators have the more standard 34 pin connector.
The other thing to remember is that most modern computers do not have a floppy drive these days which you will need to allow you to transfer the songs from disk to USB. Many people tend to keep an older desk top or laptop running an older version of Windows ( say XP or 7) for just their music requirements. An older computer can often be picked up for a few bucks and it does not need to be all singing and dancing just the basics.
Regards John.
