KN1000 Floppy disc drive

I have a KN1000 that does not have a disc drive. However , if I remove the existing cover and screws can an ordinary floppy disc drive from an old computer fit in and will it work automatically or does the keyboard need internal modifications ? Thanks.

Re: KN1000 Floppy disc drive

Hi, The disk drive you need to find is called a "SY-FD20" these are like gold dust to find, however the answer may well to fit a emulator,. and use a USB stick to replace using disks.I know from my knowledge of the music trade here in the UK at the time of the KN1000 comming out the use of disk of disk drives was still not that common, indeed Technics only fitted the Disk as standard to the KN100 when it was sold in Germany and Switzerland, the drive was an extra elsewhere.
The reason you can't just fit a computer drive is the SY-FD20 had extra electronics built in to interface with the Keyboard.
Good hunting all the best John.
