Hello,

I recently added a USB floppy drive emulator to the Technics KN1500 Keyboard and I bought with it a usb thumb drive containing additional styles. I have about a dozen floppy disks with styles that I want to copy to the USB thumb drive, but I have no idea on how to do this. Must the USB disk be formatted by the keyboard? Do I need specific software on my PC to do the file transfer process?
I would appreciate any instructions or guidance to point me in the right direction.

Thank you,

Hi welcome to the site, you say you have a USB emulator fitted to the KN1500, Firstly I need to know what make of emulator you have also many come with their own pre-formatted usb stck also they usually supply PC software to transfer files to the stick, then the keyboard.
let me have the emulator details and we can try and help from there.
Regards John.

Re: KN1500 - Copy Styles from Floppy Disk to USB Thumb Drive

Hi, John.

Sorry for the late reply, Having two small kids in the house keeps us very busy! The emulator I have is made by Gotek. It has a 3 digit display, and from what I researched can read up to 1.000 disk blocks.
Well, in my research I found the site from IPCAS (www_dot_ipcas_dot_com) that has a usb floppy emulator, and the software available there worked for the Gotek as well (USB Floppy Format Tool for the USB Floppy Emulation V2 - V 1.40i). With it I was able to copy all floppies to the usb drive, and the KN1500 read all blocks successfully. I have another question regarding file organization, but I´ll open another thread for it.

Is there any specific software for the Gotek emulator? Do you recommend and specific software?

Thank you,

Did your Gotek emulator come with a special interface cable/connector, or does it use the cable that is used with the floppy drive? I have a KN1500 and I know the floppy is getting really old. I would very much like to replace it with either a USB drive or SDcard. I would appreciate hearing from you.
Thanks,
Sam
