About 20 yrs old. Bought in Malaysia, moved to Australia, then to US. Now there is a buzz whenever a key is played. No clear sound; very disconcerting to try to play with a background buzz. No buzz or sound unless a key is depressed. Local music "stores" don't want to look at because it's old and they can't get replacement parts. Is there any hope/help?

Hi there

Couple of things to test first if you can.

First is to try with headphones. If the headphone output works (it is fed from before the stage that drives the speakers) then it is the power amplifiers and speakers and their power supply components that need to be investigated. If the phones sound the same as the speaker outputs then you need to try the L and R outputs on the back which can be checked with a standard pair of headphones but ideally fed into an amplifier (guitar amp or a hifi will be fine) and see what happens then.

So, if you have the outputs all the same, ie with no sound or just noises then the fault lies in the digital parts of the piano which is rather more complicated to deal with. Just to see what you have can you try the two things here and let me know what happens?
