Re: KN5000 WANTED LCD SCREENI would be very doubtful if you manage to find a replacement. Electronics moves so rapidly that once the initial production run of these displays has finished there are not going to be any new ones made. There are always a few put aside as spares but as you have discovered there are none around. Because of the age of these machines it is more than likely that you would have to buy another machine with a known good display and sell the rest as spare parts which given the price of keys and the like it would quickly recover your costs.

Re: KN5000 WANTED LCD SCREENThank you Dave. I am experiencing the problem of finding an LCD part around the world. I guess I will have to see what comes up with advertised keyboards.

Re: KN5000 WANTED LCD SCREENHi Geoffd, Just checked Ebay Germany, there is a display assembly for a KN5000 up for sale, don't know if they will do international shipment but worth contacting the seller.

Re: KN5000 WANTED LCD SCREENOkay guys I'm a electronic design engineer, a keyboardist and have gone through the same problems with the display crash,, bleedout, wasout loss on contrast ect, and even the service manual was little or no help. Iy turns out that technics used two companies for this display ,one made by Arida and the other was Matsushita, part numbers were Arida -edmmra8kaf which is a 6.2" display and matsushita 6.25" edmmra8kaf-g39 or qkwg030aa and are listed as being obsolete. However on ebay the seller named "YJLCDBUSINESS" does have a quanity of these displays and shipped for $90.00 dollars us.

Re: KN5000 WANTED LCD SCREENHi, Thanks for the details about the screens, for your reference Matsushita is the name of the parent company of Technics/Panasonic, however as you have shown these companies often out source parts from other manufacturing companies, the Disk drive units are from a large number of makers like Alps, NEC, and Sony to name but 3. In the passed Key designs as you point out have been shared with other brands like Korg,Hammond and others. Talking to our engineer one of the major Key makers is owned by part of the Akai group of companies they even produce for all types of plastic case moldings, you can never be sure where or what the bits inside you equipment come from or who made it.

Re: KN5000 WANTED LCD SCREENSince the LCD is likely to be good unless it is bleeding between characters the chances are that any LCD in these keyboards is liable to be a problem due to drive issues or back-light issues rather than the LCD itself. The back-light is of course a small cold cathode lamp pair bonded to the LCD itself and like all cold cathodes is far shorter in life than the LCD itself. In the dim and distant past I did a few small back-lit LCD's with LEDs but it is a painful process and difficult to do with many displays as you have to take them back to their most fundamental parts, not easy! And it risks breaking the display at which point the chances of a fix is slim!
