KN 7000 Drum edit

No doubt I am going to make myself look an idiot here. I thought Drum edit was to edit, alter, change something!!! When I go to Drum edit there is nothing there to edit. Please put me right!!!!!! anniesboy68

Re: KN 7000 Drum edit

The manual lists the explanation amongst a number of pages of information to do with Sequencer activities. It appears to be a method of selecting a particular percussion instrument that is in a sequence; and then selecting the measure you wish to edit; and then presumably editing it.

Re: KN 7000 Drum edit

anniesboy68,

Roger is correct, The Drum Edit feature is in the Sequencer and you can read about it on Page 99 of the KN7000 Manual. It is for editing (or making) the drums track in a sequence or a loaded midi file.

If you want to edit drum sounds or re-map them, that can be done too. KN7000 has 41 drum kits (more if you have the wave expansion boards). You edit a drum kit using Sound Edit. You can replace or edit any individual percussion instrument. The edited kit gets saved as the User Kit. You can then assign it to any of the built in Rhythms (Styles) using the SOUND ARRANGER or you can use it in the Composer, Sequencer or Performance Pads.

SOUND EDIT is on Page 164. You can also load individual percussion instruments from Drum Kits into the User Kit. That's usually how I make any special kits needed for some of the Style Conversions. Because some percussion sounds simply aren't on the instrument I sometimes have to edit them to make new ones. And often that involves trying to find recordings of the original percussion instrument on Youtube (because I have no idea what some of them sound like). This is necessary to match some of the Yamaha drum kits for example.

SOUND ARRANGER is much under-used. Try changing the drum kits of the 'normal' Rhythms, it can make a huge difference to how they sound.

Cheers,
Mike
