Hi all, Has anyone dismantled the 7000 if so could they tell me if there are any pc boards under the keyboard area, Or are they all set rear of the keyboard area? Thanks

Re: Pc boards??Hi,Your question leads me to say "what have you done?" Firstly the main boards are located towards the rear of the Keyboard. The main mother board and amp/jack boards are located from the edge of the keyframe to the back of the keyboard. the only boards located forward are the headphone/pitchbend wheel assy, and the disk drive unit, The other is the keyframe which includes the contacts, aftertouuch strip and the keying processors.

Re: Pc boards??Thanks for you quick reply, the reason for my query is this....I have been offered a very cheap 7000 because for some reason most of the keys are broken. And also the casing has seen better days but everything works with a wind midi controller that I have (Yamaha WX5) and the sounds are awesome form the keyboard. So the plan is to

Re: Pc boards??What a great idea for a project, I remember the Yamaha midi wind controller WX5 and it would be interesting to use it to control the KN7000 voices with it, and also using the sequencer as a self contained backing system. Technics did make a few midi units that were based on the organ range but unfortunately they do not have the same sound quality as the KN7000. I am going to recommend you have a word to David Tutt. He is a very experienced engineer and has considerable knowledge of the Technics range,so he may well be able to advise on what will be able to be left out of the build.
