Hi Mike,
Have tried to download midi files from my Apple Mac to my KN7000 via a Sandisk Ultra2 1.0 GB SD card, but no luck so far.
Would appreciate you walking me through the process in case my pedantic brain has missed something.
I have:
1. Downloaded COUNTRY SD to downloads file on Mac, zip file labelled as SD_SOUND
2. Double clicked the zip file which opened as a list.
The list was headed by SD_SOUND. PLM then SD_SOUND.TKM followed by 98 midi files.
I'm confused as to which sound file above is to be dragged & dropped into the SD card, then deleted ( sent to trash), and whether this is the sticking point.
If each folder/file could also have unique ID, that might help.
Many thanks,
Harry

Re: MIDI FILES DOWNLOADING PROCEDURE
Hi Harry,
You have inadvertently gone 'too far' inside the zip file. So, you are seeing the special Technics file names that the keyboard understands (but we humans won't understand).
The ZIP file is called "COUNTRY SD.zip"
The folder inside the ZIP is called SD_SOUND. I've attached an image of the ZIP file, opened inside my ZIP program for you to see (you'll probably have to log in to see this picture).

Drag & drop the SD_SOUND folder onto your SD Card.
That's the entire procedure.
Your SD Card has to be already initialised of course.
The contents of your SD Card will then look something like the following:

You'll probably have less folders on your card.
If you have Technics Songs on your SD Card already, they are in the PRIVATE folder, so they won't be affected. All MIDIs are in the SD_SOUND directory, they are already converted into the format the keyboard understands by me. i.e. I have done all of the naming, importing and the creation of Playlists.
I hope that fixes it for you, let me know.
Best wishes,
Mike

Re: MIDI FILES DOWNLOADING PROCEDURE
Hi Mike,
Thanks for info above, - not there yet!
Re initializing SD cards on my APPLE MAC computer for MIDI files, could you possibly lead me through the process, i.e., do you use Technics or SMF formats ?
I did find some initialising instructions on your answer to a posting dated 18th May on KN7000 forum, but assume they are not for midis (?)
Many thanks again, I'm totally impressed with your detailed help to all questions.

Re: MIDI FILES DOWNLOADING PROCEDURE
Hi Harry,
Thanks, I do my best.
If your card already has Technics files on it and is readable on your keyboard then it is already initialised. So, you would just drag the SD_SOUND directory onto the card.
If not, you have to initialise it.
You can't initialise an SD Card on a Mac. You have to do it on the keyboard as follows:
1 - Insert SD Card and press the SD button
2 - Select SD TOOLS
3 - Select FORMAT. This erases everything on the card
4 - You must now SAVE something to the card in order to finish initialising it. Press the SD button and select SAVE. Choose TECHNICS FORMAT.
5 - On the SD SAVE screen you can just press SAVE. This will save whatever happens to be in your keyboard's memory at the time. It doesn't matter what it is for now and you can overwrite it later.
Your SD Card is now initialised and ready to drag the SD_SOUND folder onto it using your Mac (or PC), or to perform any other operations on your keyboard or computer henceforward. You won't need to initialise your card again unless you want to start from scratch.
Best wishes,
Mike
NB - I have edited this post again because the instructions in step 4 were incorrect. I typed the word 'not' instead of 'now' which means the opposite of what I intended to say!

Re: MIDI FILES DOWNLOADING PROCEDURE
Just to be very clear. Your SD Card can contain Technics Songs. SD Sound (MIDIs) and SD Audio at the same time.
The keyboard understands that they are in different folders, they don't interfere with each other.
This is why you can drag and drop the SD_SOUND folder onto your SD Card without affecting your Technics Songs, because the Technics Songs are within the PRIVATE Folder.
This is also why they are accessed via different screens on the keyboard, different sections of the keyboard's Operating System.
As a side note, Apple Macs can't save SD Audio to the cards because this can only be done using SD Jukebox, which is a PC program created by Panasonic.
