Re: EX35 organ

Hi Derrick

I'm sure someone here will correct me if I am wrong but I have a feeling the ex35 is of similar internal construction as the 66 from a similar age .... 1986 or so with a card frame to the left rear of the instrument containing all the digital and analog circuitry except the power amp. Most of the old Technics of that age in my part of the world have all died and become scrap items so there are a few spare bits around both in my workshop and dotted around the country! Their are few rare components on this board so repairs can be relatively cheap.

The output stage and amplifier unit is under the upper keyboard and contains the power supply components on the same board. I have a working one here I think but would need confirmation with pictures to be sure. It is not really a user replaceable item unless you can solder and I think there are about 20 connections to put into the board. This would be the source of your hum. From what I know of this range of organs they were all double insulated and hence didn't have an earthed mains lead. So a missing earth would not be an issue here. Other than that it sounds that there is capacitor failure on the output stage board and these would have to be replaced.

Hope this gives you some pointers.

Regards

Re: EX35 organ

Hello Dave, Many thanks for your very quick reply, re the ex35 problem.
I am sure you have hit the nail right on top of it's head
You are correct the organ has no earthing system, and it is getting on a bit alot like myself
being 85 years and not seing as clear as I once did.
I could maybe do the soldering but finding whitch capacitor was failing is another matter.
Looks like my GA.3. will be getting more play time.
What a shame as the ex35 looks very nice, but we all come to an end one day.
I will give it another look over before puting it to rest.
Thank you once again Dave for all of your help, I have put your nome on file just incase.
kind regards Derrick.

Re: EX35 organ

Hi Derrick

I know what you mean! My mum is 84 with dementia which means I get less time for repairs some weeks than I really need!
By all means if you want to bring it back to normality then I am happy to repair the board if you remove it and ship it to me but that task alone is a bit of a challenge!

Only too happy to help.

Regards and best wishes

Dave
