I have a friend who’s grandmother had several disks of music she recorded of herself playing. The grandmother recently passed and they want to sell the organ (sx-GA1), but want the music pulled off the floppy disks and put on an Audio CD if possible. The disks are in the Technics format and therefore not readable by a standard computer floppy drive. Is there an emulator or any way to convert these from Technics format to a readable format to burn to CD? I noticed the organ can read MIDI format too, but I am unsure how to convert the disks as is, or if it has to be done from the organ itself.

Re: Technics format conversion for Audio CD on sx-GA1

Hi lostinthefort,

Your only way to get a 'correct' recording of the Songs is my loading them and recording them from the instrument itself.

Whilst it might be possible to convert to midi using the organ, playback will not sound the same on other instruments or PC. There is no emulator or other software that can play back the originals.

It should be possible to copy the files from the floppies and load them on another GA instrument via a PC without any problem./ However, you would then need someone else with a GA organ to make an audio recording for you using their organ. Best to do it on the organ you have rather than lose the recordings.

Best wishes,
Mike
