I have acquired several style disks for the KN2000 which is of similar era of the GA3. Does anyone know if it is possible to convert the KN2000 files to be able to be used with a GA3. My assumption is that the EMC styleworks software may allow this but looking for feedback before purchasing.
Thanks

Re: Using KN2000 styles with GA3 organ
Hi Steve, Just to let you know we are looking into this, style works is great but I set up the scenario you asked about, however in style works there seems to be a conflict of formats. This is because both the KN2000 and GA3 are in the same menu . We are looking into this and will contact the program developer to see what we can do.
I have a fair amount of KN2000 styles if I have have any ideas I will contact you to see if they work (I and Mike don't have have a GA at our disposal just now )
Best regards John.

Re: Using KN2000 styles with GA3 organ
Hi John
Thanks for reply, I did get the message below from Eric at style works and your interpretation seems to follow along as they describe the GA3 as a subset. I have no experience with style works program but was thinking - What if one converted from KN2000 to say Yamaha and then from same Yamaha to GA3. I would expect it to be a lot of work but seems to be a bit logical. Anyway if you come across any more info on the subject it will be well appreciated.. Also would it make any sense if I were to pick up a KN6000 and use the KN2000 files? Or would the 2000 files be too primitive for the 6000?
best Regards
Steve
From Eric
Hello Steve,
thanks for the request. Usually the Style Works programs work only for keyboard models, but as we received a lot of requests for GA-3 support at that time we implemented a sub mode for GA-3 into the KN2000 version.
This "special feature" still exists in the current Style Works XT. So there is support for GA-3, i.e. you can convert styles from any sources also to GA-3 or create styles from midifiles.
Best regards

Re: Using KN2000 styles with GA3 organ
Hi Steve,
It's not as complicated as that. In Styleworks you set your target keyboard to KN2000 and then select the GA3 dropdown option.
From there, you can convert any Style to GA3. All of the GA3 Styles available on this site are done in that way.
If you're converting from KN2000 Styles, they need to be opened using the File Menu. Styles from other models are opened in the normal Styleworks way. It is essential to read the manual and get practise. It amazes me how many people buy Styleworks and don't put in the work to find out how all the features work, it does take some effort.
As with any conversion, you'll want to choose sounds, make balance adjustments and choose the parts to include in the converted Style. Styleworks lets you do all of these. The more work you put in the better the conversion will be.
For GA3, Styleworks converts the Composer style. It doesn't convert Panel Memories or other info.
GA3 conversions are compatible with EA, GA, F100 and G100 organs.
KN2000 files also convert fine to KN6000 and otehr models. The KN2000 styles are very nice indeed and are not to be discounted just because they have fewer parts. Sometimes using too many parts in Styles can be over-fussy.
Best wishes,
Mike

Re: Using KN2000 styles with GA3 organ
Thanks for the added info MIke I will do a bit more research, I do see the cost of the software to be a bit steep for my taste but if I do follow through and have successful conversions I will be sure to share with the site.
Regards
Steve
