Hi Mike,
I've been thinking about updating OS of my KN6000 to a version 7.1 which I think is the latest. My questions are:
Do you know the advantages and disadvantages, what are the benefits? also how do I find out what type of O.S my KN6000 have? I would really appreciate any input you could give me about it.

Hi bufalo,

KN6000 - To display the installed OS version:

- Turn off the keyboard.

- Press the following buttons in the SOUND GROUP section, [DIGITAL DRAWBAR] - [ACCORDION REGISTER] - [SOUND EXPLORER] and hold them as you turn the keyboard on

- You will see the version number on the bottom right.

I don't post these on my websites because I won't support them in any way. I haven't ever updated any of my keyboards because I know that people have broken their keyboards by doing so. Therefore, I won't take the responsibility of giving advice about it. I have told someone in another post how to update their KN5000 because I heard that it is important for that particular keyboard but as I say, people who upgrade have to do so at their own risk.

My thoughts on the matter are that if you don't notice any problems you shouldn't upgrade.

I don't know the details of what any of the upgrades do except that they won't change any of the sounds. I understand that most updates relate to things like spelling mistakes in the help files but there are other things that change too.

If I find out more info in the future and if I decide to update any of my keyboards (which is very unlikely unless it will improve style conversions) I'll post more info.

It is also worth reading the Service Manual for your instrument. KN6000 Service Manual is in the members area as is KN7000. These describe how to run various diagnostic tests etc.
